WOMEN IN CHARGE

Since 1968, The Levinson Institute has been helping business leaders build adaptive, accountable, and strategic organizations.  Recently, The Levinson Institute decided to distill and present several decades of knowledge and experience acquired by The Levinson Institute’s female consultants and instructors.  We have put together a truly innovative synthesis of their work, experience, as well as their personal journeys. The result is our newest seminar; it is called Women in Charge.

The format of Women in Charge is morning lectures, afternoon and evening small-group sessions (see schedule), individualized coaching with your small-group leader, a special guest speaker, and time for networking with other participants.  As we do in On Leadership, participants present “live” cases, which they bring from their workplace.  They explore, diagnose, and resolve these dilemmas in groups of five (under the guidance of a skilled consultant) applying a unique problem-solving model based upon the concepts presented in the seminar.

Session topics include:

  • Leveraging the Psychology of Power           Clarifying your own source of power, avoiding obstacles, and generating power for your team

  • Negotiating with Confidence and Respect     Seeking the best, long-term strategies and solutions for everyone

  • Using Words Powerfully                               Strategies for positive, constructive communication that uses all your language (words, body, and tone) to
convey meaning and connect with others

  • A Blueprint for Health and Balance               Balancing the week by providing a roadmap for fitness, equilibrium, and the mind-body connection

Women in Charge is targeted to all women in senior- and middle-management roles. The program is highly interactive and limited to 30 participants. The four-day seminar will create a new forum for learning, sharing, commiserating, and growing for women managers. You will learn how to maximize your potential and effectiveness despite time constraints, multiple commitments, and the inherent challenges of being a woman manager.

The faculty for Women in Charge comes from The Levinson Institute’s “deep bench” of women consultants who all possess strong managerial experience.  Their backgrounds are diverse and include business, psychiatry, psychology, and leadership development.

We hope that Women in Charge can be the nucleus for an ongoing network of women leaders who continually teach, learn from, and support each other.  You will the leave this program with new insights and skills, with new strategies for helping other women at work, and with a renewed sense of equilibrium.

“On my kitchen wall hangs a wonderful piece of art.  It shows a period figure teetering on one foot while balancing everything from a clock to a medicine bottle in one hand and a candy cane in the other, with so many other things balanced on top of those…”
